Where exactly are you?
Lahori Lane, Redgate Lane, Manchester M12 4RX, in the Longsight corner of M12 and a few minutes from the city centre. The map link on this page drops a pin on the exact spot, so you can send it straight to your sat nav.
What time are you open?
Monday to Friday we open at 6:00pm, Saturday and Sunday at 4:00pm, and we serve until 2:00am every night. Late-night chai is the whole point.
How does it work when I arrive?
Pull in and the attendant on the gate will show you where to park. Park up and switch on your hazard lights. That is the signal that you are ready. A server comes over to your car, takes your order and takes payment there and then. When the food is ready we bring it out to you, boxed to take away or set up to eat where you are parked, whichever you prefer.
Can I upgrade to a meal?
Yes, £3, and a drink is included. Fusion food, burgers, rolls and toasties all upgrade to a meal with fries and a drink, or egg fried rice or noodles on the fusion dishes. Swapping that drink for an LL Drink Special is £2.50, and so is swapping the fries for House, Masala or Cheesy Masala. Just ask the server when they come to the car.
Is there anything for vegetarians?
Plenty. Gol gappe, chaat bombs, veg samosas and veg samosa chaat, aaloo papri chaat, the aaloo tikki burger, masala and house fries, paneer makhni, and the whole dessert and drinks menu.
Do you cater for allergies?
No. We are not able to cater for allergies. Our kitchen handles nuts, gluten, dairy, egg and sesame across every station, so we cannot guarantee that any dish is free from them or from traces of them. If you have a food allergy we would rather you did not risk it. There is a gluten free dessert range on the menu, but it is prepared in the same kitchen and is not suitable for anyone with coeliac disease.
Can I pay by card or cash?
Both. The server takes payment at your car when they take the order.
Do you take orders over the phone?
Give us a ring on 0161 706 0999 and we can have it ready for when you arrive, which is handy at the weekend when the lane gets busy.
Do I need to get out of the car?
No. Please stay in your vehicle the whole time you are on site, for your safety and everyone else's. Park where the attendant points you, put your hazard lights on and a server will come to the car for your order and payment. The food is brought out to you as well.
Is there anything for people who do not eat spicy food?
Most of the menu is mild. The chilli count on each item tells you what you are getting into. Butter chicken, paneer makhni, the toasties, the burgers and every dessert are all gentle. If you want the opposite, ask for the butter chicken desi style or go for the masala fries and the chilli chicken.
Is there a drive thru near me in Manchester?
If you are anywhere in south or east Manchester, yes. We are on Redgate Lane in M12, which is five minutes from Longsight, Gorton, Openshaw and Ardwick, ten from Levenshulme, Rusholme and the city centre, and about fifteen from Denton, Reddish, Droylsden or Fallowfield. Coming off the M60 at junction 24 or 25 brings you straight in.
Do you do a dessert drive thru?
That is half of what we do. Matilda cakes, brownie slabs, milk cakes, dessert cups, kunafa, gulab jamun, gajar ka halwa, falooda, milkshakes, flurries and a fresh fruit range with our own whippy, all brought out to your car. There is a gluten free range too. It is the only dessert drive thru of its kind in Manchester that we know of.
What is karak chai?
Strong black tea brewed slowly with milk, cardamom and sugar until it goes the colour of caramel. It is churned rather than stirred, which is what gives it the body. Ours is made to order in small batches through the night rather than sat in an urn, so the last one at half one tastes like the first one at six.
Are you open during Ramadan for suhoor?
Yes. Suhoor is one of our busiest times and the lane fills up well before dawn. Timings shift with the calendar, so check Instagram for the current hours before you set off during Ramadan.
Can I bring a big group or a convoy?
Yes, and plenty do at the weekend. If you are bringing several cars it helps to ring ahead on 0161 706 0999 so the kitchen can stagger it. Please keep everyone in their vehicles and keep the lane moving for the cars behind.
Are you family friendly?
Very. There is a kids' menu with nuggets, a chicken fillet burger or popcorn chicken, all served with fries and a drink, and no queue to keep anyone standing in.
